Job Title: Principal PCB Test Engineer
Location: UK

ROLE OVERVIEW:

Support the Company’s product development by providing technical leadership in design, implementation and delivery of automated test systems for development and manufacturing test of our Client’s products.
The role is key to the design and development of production test systems for manufacturing and their support/improvement for production.

In addition to detailed design activities associated with product test, the role also provides internal development of test result analysis tools.

This role will require occasional travel to the factories, typically up to five weeks per year.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

• Solid PCB test experience
• Hardware background (ideally RF; a true R&D background, they will have a good understanding of SW too; they will have a good product vision).
• Solid understanding of factory testing
• Will be able to demonstrate examples of technical leadership in design, implementation and delivery of automated test systems for development and manufacturing test
• Will have experience of the implementation and validation of production fixtures and testers, including mechanical, electronic PCB’s and software design
• Candidate is likely to have been an experienced electronics design engineer who has moved into test development
• The candidate will be comfortable with generating test specifications and specifying test solutions from product schematics and initial product specification
• Ability to read product schematics (mixed signal) and define test methods and test equipment with minimal support from development engineers.
• Will have a knowledge of the statistical analysis of test results
• Has experience of product development from concept to production and both understands and is practiced in product development processes and the phased approach to projects
• Is capable of documenting design requirements to a sufficient standard that others can easily follow these to achieve the required implementation with minimal support

At the moment we are looking for a principal engineer that will be able to overlook/mentor a small team of engineers. The ideal candidate does not have to have management experience although if they have mentored other engineers it would be a plus.
